Joe will be walking and recording sections two and three of next year’s route. This starts at Carlton-in-Lindrick and goes through to Retford RUFC (approximately 10 miles.) If you wish to join him, please meet at the Doctor’s car park in Whitwell at 9am. Cars will be needed to ‘Double Shuffle’ to both the start and the finish.
On Friday 6th October Joe, Trevor, Liz and James attended the 2017 Bolsover District Sports Awards ceremony at the Sports Direct Conference rooms. This was an superb night which celebrated all the great sportspeople and events that happen within the local area. It was both amazing and humbling to listen to some of the achievements that had been made, especially those of some of the youngest nominees.
However, it was also a fantastic night for the Louise Smalley Walk, as we were awarded the Community Award for 2017. The voting committee recognised the hard work that has been made by all the walkers and support teams. They also acknowledged the longevity of the walk and were appreciative of the amount of money that has been raised over the years.
So, well done to everybody who has contributed by either putting on a pair of boots, standing and clapping in walkers, patching up and rubbing sore feet, or contributing to the bonus ball fund. This award is for all of you.
After a close run election, Whitwell Cricket Club have been selected as the recipients for 2018. Thank you to all those walkers, support crew and bonus ball members who attended the meeting. The route for 2018 is the Retford Round Robin – except we are going to reverse the direction from the previous years that it has been walked.

Saturday 22 April : Ringinglow to Eckington (14.7 miles)
Saturday 20 May : Ladybower to Ringinglow (14.7 miles)
Saturday 3 June: Coal Aston to Whitwell (19.8 miles)
Meeting points & times will be posted nearer the days but likely to be a 9.00am start from Whitwell.
Saturday 19th November saw the 22nd LSW Presentation night. At a well attended evening, badges were handed out to all walkers and support crew who took part in this years walk. Thanks were made to many people who, without their help, this walk would never happen.
Most importantly we handed over a cheque for £9400 to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. A culmination of hard work and excellent fund raising by all involved.
Big thanks to everyone for this year and…….remember….Amy’s Retreat is our “good cause” for next year…….Ladybower route to be conquered……lets make it t good one!!!
After an excellent meeting at the Whitwell Community centre on Friday 16th September, where 4 deserving groups presented their case for LSW funding AMY’S RETREAT was selected as the 2017 recipient. Many congratulations to the “AMY Team”.

Well everyone, another one done… and what a great success!
Congratulations to ALL who took part from walker to support and the cracking amount of “followers” we saw on route. Shame about the rain at times…but plenty of sunshine too!
All were in by 8.30ish so great result. Now time to celebrate and look forward to Ladybower next year!
