Tales From A Novice
Take five minutes to read Mark’s account of his first LSW.
2018 Photographs
Photographs of the Reverse Retford Round can be found on the images gallery. Thank you Karl Austin (Ilumia Images) for taking the collection of images. If you have other photos from the day and are happy to share them, then please get in touch through the the site email.
2018 Maps (Retford Reverse)
New maps have been added to the Retford Reverse Route page. Subtle difference!
They include strategically placed numbers that correspond with the section numbers on the route descriptions. For example. On Section 1 (Whitwell to Carlton In Lindrick) there are 6 “sub-sections”. So sub-sec 2 appears on the map at the part where this sub-sec physically starts. Clear? Just look at the maps you will see what I mean.
Hope this helps.
Stories From The Walkers
Visit this page to read about walker experiences on the LSW.
If you want to know what it’s all about then these stories will give you a great insight…..blisters and all. As we head to this years 40 miler you may just pick up a few tips also.
First Aid Fun
Thank you to all those who attended the first annual first aid course. The representatives from each checkpoint and a few walkers had a good day being brought up to speed with the latest first aid information ahead of this years walk. The day covered the usual topics of CPR, chocking and dealing with wounds, as well as more LSW focussed areas of blisters and good dietary habits for walking.
So for those of you who have not yet got your entry forms in (closing day 31st May – less than three weeks time,) be assured, you will as always, be well looked after on walk day.
Sunday 29th April 2018
Given that you only have just over a month to get your entry forms to Joe (closing date 31st May,) why not print it out, fill it in and bring it along to Sunday’s walk.

If you are still deciding whether to walk, why not come along and join us. A great chance to ask any questions and let us help you decide to walk.
Clumber Park Hotel to Whitwell approx 11 miles.
Meet in the Clumber Park Hotel Car Park at 9:30am. All welcome. We will be recording a slight route adjustment due to work that has been carried out in Clumber Park.
Leg Warmers
As we get nearer to the walk I’m sure you are all out getting the miles into your legs. To try and help both now and between walks we have created a page of leg warmers. These are 3 to 10 mile walks that can be completed whenever you can get out. At present there are only a few walks listed but the team are out finding routes to add to the collection. However, we would also appreciate you sharing your routes with the wider LSW community. If you would like to share your route simply send a map of your route (there is no need to write a set of walk instructions) to the LSW website (louisesmalleywalk@gmail.com) and we will add it to the collection.
